A WAY TO THE GALAXIES
Galaxies are group of million and of stars held together by
the force of gravity. Galaxies are present
throughout the Universe. They are classified according to their shapes.
All the galaxies are held together in
groups known as clusters and these clusters and these are arranged into larger
groups known as super clusters.
SHAPES OF GALAXIES
Galaxies have been Classified according to their shapes into
four categories : spiral , elliptical, irregular and barred spiral galaxy.
Spiral galaxy has a central nucleus with spiral arms emerging from it. Elliptical galaxies do not have any spiral arm. Irregular galaxy has no arms and no shape while the barred spiral galaxy has a nucleus with band of stars across it .
