Mars
Mars is the only planet with has red surface and a red sky. Thus is
known as the ‘Red Planet’ . It is the fourth from the Sun. the atmosphere of
Mars is damp and warm and the rich iron content on its surface reacts with the
atmosphere. Thus the iron on its surface rusts giving it a red colour.
How Mars is similar to the earth ?
Though Mars is similar, its
diameter is half to that of the earth. A day on Mars is almost of the same
length as an earth day and it also experiences seasons, which is indicated by
the tilt of its axis. A part from this, Mars also has volcanoes , deserts, polar ice-caps, canyons,
mountains and riverbeds just like found on the earth.
Moons Of Mars
Mars as two irregular potato shaped moons: Phobos and Deimos. Phobos is 27 kilometre long whereas Deimos 15 km long. The surface of Phobos and Deimos
is filled with craters. Phobos is the inner moon whereas Deimos is the outer Moon of Mars.
Possibility Of Life On Mars
The atmosphere of Mars consists of carbon dioxide and small amounts
of oxygen.
Mars has a warm temperature sufficient to support life. According to
the scientists, it has frozen water at its poles. So, its believed that there
might be a possibility anywhere, Thus, it is
believed there the planet must
have lost its water in the space due to its weak gravity or there may be water
present under the surface.
