Uranus
Uranus is the third and the largest planet, discovered by William
Herschel, a German Astronomer in 1781. He saw the planet while gazing at the night sky with his
homemade telescope and named the planet after the Greek god ‘Ouranos’. This
planet is located between the Saturn and the Neptune. The atmosphere of Uranus
is made up of hydrogen, helium, methane and traces of other gases like ethane.
Uranus looks blue green in colour due to the presence of methane gas on its
surface.
Rings of Uranus
Uranus has a set of eleven rings, which are quite narrow. The rings
are made up of pieces of rocks and ice. Since Uranus is tilted on its side,
thus, the rings ae in upright position.
